Volunteer Opportunities
Interested in volunteering for the 2023 event?
Our annual festival has grown over the years!
It covers our historic district with more streets, businesses, churches,
museums, nonprofits, and volunteers taking an active part.
Our amazing community brings this festival together!
Volunteers are crucial to the festival!
Here are some of the opportunities to help.
You can help with a little or a lot!
Set Up
Friday, December 1 & Saturday, December 2
On Friday many venues will need to be set up. Finishing touches will also have to be made to the Steinwehr Avenue, Baltimore Street, and Lincoln Square.
Information Helpers
Saturday, December 2
Friendly people to help with directions and festival information. Information will be available at booths and from Roaming Info Helpers.
Signs
November: We need volunteers to place yard signs
around Gettysburg and Adams County.
Friday, December 1 & Sunday, December 3
We need volunteers to place signage for the event on Friday, and pick signage up on Sunday.
David Wills House
Friday, December 1, Saturday, December 2 &
Sunday, December 3
Help is needed all three days to staff the David Wills House. Main Street Gettysburg partners with the National Park Service to keep this treasured museum open from April to November. We appreciate their cooperation to make it available during the festival. Great opportunity to volunteer indoors!
Human Foosball
Friday, December 1, Saturday, December 2 &
Sunday, December 3
This is a super-fun activity for families and people of all ages.
We need volunteers to monitor participants and equipment.
Clean Up
Friday, December 1, Saturday, December 2 &
Sunday, December 3
Help is needed all three days to keep any litter under control, to check on trash cans so they don’t overflow, and to assist with taking down set venues. Our From the Ground Up Volunteer Group has this job down to a science - but they could always use more helpers to make the job a bit easier on everyone.
If you would be able to help out, please reach out to
Main Street Gettysburg at 717-337-3491 or info@mainstreetgettysburg.org. Thank you!
OTHER WAYS TO HELP
You can help by talking up the event with your family, friends, and organizations you’re involved with.
Do you know anyone who would like
to dress in holiday attire of the past or present?
Do you know anyone who would like
to sing carols or play music?
Do you know anyone who would like
to be a living history character?
